God saw that it was Good
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
(Excerpts from Psalm 19: 1, 4, 6)
A Gaelic Blessing
Deep peace of the running wave to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the shining star to you
Deep peace of the gentle night to you
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
Deep peace of Christ the light of the world to you.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, life as we know it has come to a standstill
due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is giving us the opportunity to look at how we are living our lives,
how we are relating to each other;
and how we are relating to the earth.
We have observed how Nature is responding
as it repairs itself free from human interference,
free from indifference and disrespect.
Father, please help us to commit ourselves to treasuring your magnificent Creation.
Give us wisdom, individually and collectively,
practical ways in which we can show respect and care for this planet, our home.
Loving God, we pray for people suffering from the virus
and ask you to comfort those who have lost loved ones.
Please protect all workers; and their families as they care for the sick.
Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy.
Amen
