Morning Prayers Thursday, 16 April 2020

What are you going to do today?

This morning you might be feeling that you are between a rock and a hard place. In every aspect, life has been turned upside down by the coronavirus pandemic. Sadly, it is a time of sorrow and mourning as this unexpected crisis has taken thousands of lives in the United Kingdom. On Easter Sunday, we celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which reminded us of the everlasting Love which God has for us, and strengthened us in faith and hope. Jesus said, that He is the resurrection and the life; and over 300 times we are told in the Bible that we should not fear.

So take heart from the promise which we are given in Isaiah 43: 2–4:

Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end, because I am God your personal Saviour—

The Message Study Bible

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, please forgive us for wanting to run our lives as we please. We acknowledge that you are in control and know what is best for us, as each of us is precious to you. We want to live as you would have us live. The Cross tells of your Love for us, and your Resurrection tells of your Power. Please forgive us of our sins and guide us through your Holy Spirit into right paths, especially at this very challenging time. We cannot control what is happening, but we can control how we respond. We know that nothing is impossible with you, so we ask you earnestly to heal our land.  We trust in you and stand on your solid rock because all other ground is sinking sand.

Amen
