Morning Prayers for Friday, 19 June 2020

Good morning, friends.

God is good?

All the time.

Let us pause to acknowledge God`s watchful, care and mercy as we slept…

Prayer

God of all, we come to you just as we are –
happy, sad, busy, bored, lonely, or fed up with people.
We thank you that you welcome us just as we are
and are always with us, even when we do not realise.

Amen

A Hymn for reflection: I need thee every hour!

I need thee every hour,
most gracious Lord;
no tender voice like thine
can peace afford:
I need thee, O I need thee,
every hour I need thee;
O bless me now, my Saviour;
I come to thee.

I need thee every hour;
stay thou near by;
temptations lose their power
when thou art nigh

I need thee every hour,
in joy or pain;
come quickly and abide,
or life is vain:

I need thee every hour;
teach me thy will,
and thy rich promises
in me fulfil:

Intercessory

Eternal God, we  pray as your co-workers and co-carers in your world.
We know you already care and are already there in the places and with the people for whom we pray.
We pray for people suffering, in pain, depression or anxiety.

We pray for all those who work to alleviate suffering.
We pray for those places in our society where inequality is still an ugly beast
and continues to plague your people
and we give thanks for actions that will help to remedy the years of injustice…

We pray for communities struggling in poverty, overcrowding and hunger,
for people feeling disconnected and for those who are working together to bring comfort, food and help.
We pray for governments and those in power around the world,
for wisdom and the desire to put the wellbeing of their people first
and to work together with other countries in peace.
We pray for churches, torn by strife and squabbles and call upon them your healing spirit.
We bring all our prayers, in trust and confidence, before your throne of divine mercy
in the precious name of Jesus who taught us to pray in this manner:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Amen

Blessing

May Immanuel God be with us,
bless us with the deep heart-knowledge that God is with us,
and as we share the reality of ourselves with God,
may we know ourselves held and beloved.

Amen

Have a blessed day ahead?))!
