Trust in God’s Protection
Those who know your name will trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9: 10 NIV®
In the opening verse we are reminded of the importance of knowing who God is and trusting in Him.
This does not mean that if we trust in God we will escape loss or suffering;
rather, God will never leave us no matter what we face.
The entry of the coronavirus in our lives has caused many of us to become very fearful because of its devastating effects.
Let us redouble our efforts to rest in God’s love and build up our faith.
God’s redemptive love is beyond anything this world offers.
There is nothing we can do to earn it because it is a free gift which God has chosen to give us.
It is our responsibility to accept His gift by faith.
Paul admonishes us to ‘fight the good fight of faith’.
E. Stanley Jones writes: ‘I am inwardly fashioned for faith and not for fear.
Fear is not my native land. Faith is.
I am so made that worry and anxiety are like sand in the machinery of life and faith is the oil.
I live better by faith and confidence than by fear, doubt and anxiety.’
We have been redeemed from eternal death through Jesus Christ. We no longer have occasion to fear. Our fate has been sealed, and we have every reason to have hope for the future. However, many people do not realise the power of God’s redemption. They cower in fear and worry about today and tomorrow. Each one of us can think back to a time when we felt fearful and wanted to retreat. God calls us to move forward in victory.
1) Fear stifles creativity.
2) Fear destroys our dreams.
3) Fear blocks God’s love.
4) Fear prevents us from telling others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
5) Fear is one of Satan’s favourite weapons against the believer.

Refuse to allow fear to rob you of God’s blessings. Stop the ‘what if’ depressive agenda.
The apostle Paul reminds us that we are more than conquerors through Christ,
who loves us and gave himself for us (Romans 8: 37).
Remember what God has done for you in the past: his blessings.
Let us pray:
Loving God, we thank you for protecting us and bringing us to this new day.
Help us to remember that you never slumber nor sleep,
that you are sovereign and that you are in perfect control of every situation.
We thank you that your mercies are new every morning.
May we consciously start our day in prayer and praise; asking for guidance through your Holy Spirit;
as well as interceding for others who feel there is no hope.
Help us to put your Word above our feelings, so that we do not live in fear.
Father God, help us to rest in your redemptive love where there is an abundance of hope and joy.
This morning, we pray that people in all our communities, towns and cities
will be selfless and disciplined in helping to prevent another onslaught of the coronavirus.
Let us show that we are truly ‘our brother’s keeper’.
Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy.
Amen
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Hebrews 4: 16
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46: 7 NIV®
For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41: 13 NIV®
For the Spirit God gave us a spirit does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1: 7 NIV®
If you are already in the will of God, he has gone before you.
Take care, and wishing you a good day.
