Daily Prayers Tuesday, 8 March 2022

Today as we approach the throne of God and bring the troubles of the world, let us come with faith and expectancy that God will hear us and answer our prayers.   Let us claim the promise of Psalm 91 on behalf of all who are living in fear:

He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

 Surely, he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Let us begin our intercessions today by keeping silence and putting our awareness on God our father the world he created and loves.   Let us breathe, quieten our minds and bathe in the presence of the almighty….

We enter your presence Lord, very troubled about our world, particularly what is happening in Ukraine.  Our hearts cry out for the suffering that is being caused.  Omniscient and omnipotent God, we ask that you influence the thinking of the leadership in Russia.  We pray that the Holy Spirit will bring about miracles and that we will see change of hearts.  That those hearts will begin to seek peace.

We pray for all international leaders who are working for peace.  We ask for them and all peoples of the world that we will remove hate and anger from our hearts. Instead, fill our hearts with the love of God and grace of God and pray for everyone on both sides of the conflict.   Help us to hold everyone in the world in your love and grace.  Help us to be Christ in our thoughts, words and actions.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones and are in mourning.  We pray for those who are injured and suffering pain.  We pray for those who are displaced physically, emotionally and mentally.  We pray for all people who are in pain as a result of this international disaster.  We remember those who may be far away, and yet the troubles in Ukraine and Russia, trigger emotional pain due to experiences in their past.  We pray for those in the services all over Europe and their families who may be living in fear of being called to join a war.  God of mercy, grant your people peace both outwardly and inwardly.

We pray for those who are co-ordinating humanitarian aid.  Grant them physical strength, clarity of mind and courage to do what they have to do.  We pray that people in this country and elsewhere will give what they can and do so generously.  We pray that the government will do what they can and focus on doing the right think. Help us all to recognise that if we want peace, we must be willing to pay the price with our discomfort in whatever form is demanded of us.  Help us to be the good Samaritan to our brothers and sisters.

Here at home, we ask that you touch those who suffer pain of any sort and pray for healing and peace.  We thank you for those that give their lives to care for the suffering.  Continue to grant them your patience and strength.   Help us to see how we can play our part and be neighbour to one another.

Lord, you said to us in the gospels (Mark 11:24)  that whatever we ask for in prayer, we must believe that we have received it, and it will be ours. We have approached your throne in faith today.  We ask that you will give us faith to see the answers of these and all the prayers of your people all over the world.

In the name of Christ who died and rose again to save us all.
