Category: Prayer of the Week
Pour out your Spirit, O God, over all the world
to inspire every heart with knowledge and love of you.
Grant that we who confess Jesus as Lord
may shun whatever is contrary to this faith
and give witness to your love that has saved us in Christ,
for he lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
We praise you, Lord, for all that you are, for the creation that is yours, for its beauty and wonder, its diversity and richness.
We praise you for your presence and comfort that swaddle us in your purity and enrich us with your abundance.
We praise you for your steadfastness and your amazing grace that has rescued us.
Amen
We come to your house, Lord, to join our sisters and brothers in your praise.
So many people in this world are prevented from worshipping you
or reaching their true potential, by different challenges.
Some are oppressed while others lack confidence in their own abilities.
Use us, Lord, to reach out to them and lift them.
Show them that you love and value them for who they are, not what they have.
You were able to use ordinary people like fishermen and bring out the best in them
in order to spread your word of love, peace, joy and justice.
Be close, now to those on the margins and wrap them in your arms we pray.
Amen
Almighty God, we tremble as we think of who we are and who you are.
Bring us now, in this moment, to know you.
See us as we are, and see our yearning to be more like you.
May we lay aside anything that hinders our journey with you,
and with our friends and neighbours and we ask in Jesus’ name.
Amen
O God, whose words burns like a fire within us,
grant us a bold and faithful spirit
that in your strength we may be unafraid to speak your word
and follow where you lead.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ your Son and our Lord
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
Living God, we thank you for calling us to be your people. Each and every one of and not just some people. We are truly blessed that the One who holds the keys to the kingdom of heaven is the One who has the key to our hearts. Thank you for the privilege of being part of the amazing story of faith that sustained our ancestors. We thank you for we know our future and place is with you through the Messiah, your Son and our Lord.
Amen
Wise and gracious God,
you spread a table before us
and nourish your people with the word of life
and the bread from heaven.
In our sharing of these holy gifts,
show us our unity in you
and give us a taste of the life to come.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
God of all power,
your sovereign word comes to us in Christ.
When your Church is in danger, make firm our trust;
when your people falter, steady our faith.
Show us in Jesus your power to save,
that we may always acclaim him as Lord,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
Bountiful and compassionate God,
you place in the hands of your disciples the food of life.
Nourish us at your holy table,
that we may bear Christ to others and share with them
the gifts we have so richly received.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
Provident Father,
with the prayer your Son taught us
always on our lips,
we ask, we seek, we knock at your door.
In our every need,
grant us the first and best of all your gifts,
the Spirit who makes us your children.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
Eternal God, you draw near to us in Christ and make yourself our guest.
Amid the cares of our daily lives,
make us attentive to your voice and alert to your presence,
that we may treasure your word above all else.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
Gracious God, we thank you that all good gifts come from you.
We thank you for all you have already given us.
And, as the good soil welcomes the seed, and causes it to grow,
we welcome you to take root and flourish in our lives
enabling us to listen, to learn and to act in Jesus’ name.
Amen
O God, teach us the hidden wisdom of the Gospel,
so that we may hunger and thirst for holiness,
work tirelessly for peace,
and be counted among those who seek first the blessedness of your kingdom.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
Living God, your Spirit draws us into your presence,
and so we gather in our own homes and houses,
drawn by love and upheld by grace to encounter Jesus, our Saviour.
We know him as our master and our friend.
In him we see you and know your love that sent him to us.
Spirit, Son and Father, we draw close in faith
to offer our praise and worship and we thank you for all the welcome we receive.
Help us to be always welcoming.
Amen
Eternal God, in Christ you have sought us with a shepherd’s heart,
and we have rejoiced to be found and restored.
Multiply in all the world the wonders of your saving grace,
and gather your scattered people until heaven resounds in jubilation
at humanity made whole and creation restored.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen
