Prayer of the Week 12 September 2021

Loving God, your name is veiled in mystery, yet we dare to call you Father;
your Son was begotten before all ages, yet was born among us in time.
Your Holy Spirit fills the whole creation, yet is poured forth now into our hearts.
Because you have made us and loved us and called us by name,
draw us more deeply into your divine life, that we may glorify you rightly,
through your Son and our Lord.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 5 September 2021

Creator God, you spoke into the silence and darkness, blowing clean life-giving air into space, warmth and life engulfed your creation. Solid ground formed out of gushing water and life appeared. You lovingly created the world and us. Now you look with sadness at the mess we have made of your creation and our desperate attempts...

Prayer of the Week 29 August 2021

Loving God, may we be as those who abide with you;
those who walk blamelessly and do what is right;
those who speak truth from their heart, who do not slander with their tongue
and do no evil to their friends.
Then shall we never be moved from your presence.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 22 August 2021

God of the unknown journey, you call us to follow you,
even though we do not know where you might lead us.
You do not provide us a map, but you do offer yourself as guide and travelling companion.
You do not promise an easy path, blue skies, warm sun and pleasant company.
You simply asked us to follow you.
But you provide the nourishment and strength we need for the journey
and for that, Lord, we honour and glorify your name.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 15 August 2021

Jesus, our living bread, we have an appetite for you, and we come wanting to feed on your word.
Jesus, you offer life to the world, eternal life, raising us up on the last day.
Keep us hungry for you, with the anticipation of a feast of the finest food – food that brings life.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 8 August 2021

Limitless God, thank you that we cannot contain you, that you are unfathomable and always up to something!
We worship and adore you.
Just when we think we have worked it all out, you surprise us!
Gracious God, we are truly blessed by you.
Thank you, that as we bow down humbly at your throne, we know that only you can satisfy our needs.
Praise you, Lord God.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 1 August 2021

Christ our Lord, your word says that we should cast all our anxieties on you because you care for us.
We must not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
we should present our requests to you, and your peace, which transcends all understanding,
will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.
And so, Lord, we come as we are, trusting that you will give us your rest and peace in Jesus’ name.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 25 July 2021

Lord of all creation, giver of life, we offer ourselves to you.
Teach us how to give ourselves to others, generously and wholeheartedly, sharing who we are and what we have.
May we learn to share all the world’s resources, so that everyone has enough of the good things that you provide.
May we all rejoice in your goodness.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 18 July 2021

Jesus, our Shepherd, who makes us lie down in green pastures,
who leads us beside still waters, who restores our souls:
you anoint our heads with oil and our cup overflows.
We worship and adore you, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 11 July 2021

Almighty God, we thank you that we can come to you
knowing that you care about each one of us, and all our needs, however big or small.
You created the heavens and the earth.
You put stars into space and filled the mighty seas.
Your power and your greatness is all around us –
from mountaintops to the intricacies of a tiny flower.
Thank you that your power is limitless.
We are so small in comparison, but you love us all the same.
We adore you, Creator God.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 4 July 2021

O God, all-sufficient one,
we give you thanks and praise that you are all we need.
You are enough.
Thank you that you love us so much,
and provide everything we need for the journey of life.
You didn’t promise that following you would be easy,
but we thank you that you care about us
as you do the birds of the sky and the lilies in the field.
You know our every need.
Thank you that your thoughts are higher than our thoughts,
your ways higher than our ways.
Thank you that when we come to you empty, your arms reach out to embrace us.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 27 June 2021

Creator God, as we marvel and reflect on the wonders of our amazing yet fragile habitat, we celebrate the wonders of Earth as our home.
Help us to reflect how we have polluted our planet and teach us to be alert to the groans of creation.
May we be conscious of your presence on earth as a living sanctuary and learn to lovingly care for this home,
through Christ our Lord, who was there during creation.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 20 June 2021

Eternal God, we praise and adore you for all that you are:
for being bigger than even our biggest questions; for caring more than we can fully comprehend.
We praise and adore you for your strength and your silence; for your power and your peace.
We praise and adore you for being in control and yet not controlling; for being in the storms and beyond them.
We praise and adore you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we praise you for ever.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 13 June 2021

God of grace and growth, you have called us to plant the seeds of your kingdom in the fields of your world,
and to trust you for their development and flourishing, and so we praise you.
We thank you for the abundance of your creativity, for the transforming nature of your Spirit,
for the power of small beginnings and for the mystery of hidden growth in Jesus’ name.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 6 June 2021

God of all the world, we praise you for calling us into your family, for choosing us even though we are imperfect, for trusting us even though we make mistakes, for not giving up on us even when we give up on ourselves, for offering so much more – even when we would settle for less....
