Spirit of God, come to us now, so that, in this time of Pentecost, the sparkling light of faith, the rushing wind of hope and the joyful sound of praise may echo round the world, may echo in the church, and find their response in us. Amen

God our Father,we give thanks that you raised your Son from death to lifeand exalted him to your right hand in glory.Send the Holy Spirit that we may worship you, our Fatherand serve him, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Loving God, as we gather in this church this morning for prayers and worship,  we pray for those gathered in other special places, wherever they are in the world – in ones and twos, tens and twenties, or hundreds and thousands. May our praise and our prayers overspill into the streets and the cities, the fields...

Liberating God,
You call us to bind up the broken hearted and set the captives free.
Open our eyes to the reality of modern slavery,
and to those in our midst who are trapped.
Thank you for those who are making a difference,
and may we, who are free, live lives that free others.
Amen

O God of Justice,
whose son overturned the tables in the temple,
and challenged the hypocrisy of the Pharisees,
cause us to feel anger and shame at the ways our lifestyle reduces humanity,
and to repent and act justly on the impulse of love to share your gifts
for a fairer world and for your kingdom on earth.
Amen

Almighty and merciful God,
you break the power of evil and make all things new
in your Son Jesus Christ, the king of the universe.
May all in heaven and earth
acclaim your glory and never cease to praise you.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

God, our rock and our redeemer,
we pray for those forced to leave to support families;
we pray for lives torn apart by absence and loss;
we pray for people missing loved ones and home;
we pray for chaplains, pastors and advocates in this context.
May we be willing to share our selves with the stranger in our midst
Amen

Living God, you call us into a deeper relationship with you.
You hear the cry of the weak and you value each of us, whatever our circumstances.
We praise you for your abundant generosity, for your astonishing grace
and we give thanks that we are called to reflect those qualities in our own lives.
Remember us Lord as we remember those who have fought the good fight
and now rest in your love and peace.
Amen

Blessed are those who set their hearts on God and hold fast to his word.
Blessed are those who are faithful in prayer, and whose songs are of praise.
Blessed are those who listen to the teachings of Scripture and live them out.
Blessed are we as we gather together to worship in Jesus’ name –
for he is here, he is among us.
Amen

Living God, we lift our voices in praise of your holy name.
We proclaim you our saviour, our redeemer, our mighty defender.
You alone are the maker and sustainer of us all; you alone deserve our worship.
Give us eyes to see your glory.
Help us to shake off our sluggishness, and to share our hopes and sorrows with you,
as you understand us and love us completely.
Amen

Teach us, O God, to trust your providence,
to accept your wisdom,
and to rejoice in your love,
through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Lord, you are God from everlasting to everlasting: alpha and omega;
creator of mountains and seas, of valleys and trees.
With creation we give you our praise, lifting our voices to you, offering our lives anew;
for you alone, God, are worthy to receive all our praises now and for ever.
Amen

For the promise of harvest contained within a seed; we thank you.
For the oak tree within an acorn, the bread within a grain,
the apple within a pip and the mystery of nature,
gift wrapped for us to sow: we thank you.
For our families, friends and the gift of life,
Lord of the Harvest we thank you in Jesus’ name.
Amen

God our Father,
in a wonderful way you guide the work of angels and men.
May those who serve you constantly in heaven
keep our lives safe from all harm on earth.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit.
