Prayer of the Week 21 November 2021

Loving God, in weakness or in strength we bear your image.
We pray for those we love who now live in a land of shadows,
where the light of memory is dimmed, where the familiar lies unknown,
where the beloved become as strangers.
Hold them in your everlasting arms, and grant to those who care a strength to serve,
a patience to persevere, a love to last and a peace that passes human understanding.
Hold us in your everlasting arms, today and for all eternity; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Prayer of the Week 14 November 2021

God of all nations; we pray for those who have been injured or disabled through war;
for those who have lost homes and security through conflict;
for those who have lost loved relatives in wars;
for those who face danger and take risks for peace.
We pray for all those, especially children, caught up in current conflicts;
for refugees and all those in need of aid and other help.
God of encouragement and Saviour of the despairing,
Comfort those who remember past sacrifices
and guide us in building a just and peaceful community for all.
Amen

Morning Prayer Friday, 5 November 2021

Welcome, everyone, to Friday’s prayers. I’m conscious that while some of you may now be beginning to revert to your life as it was before Covid, others are still shielding and yet others may be very cautious about engaging with some of the activities they used to take part in. It has always been true to...

Morning Prayer Thursday, 4 November 2021

A reading from Psalm 127 1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. 2In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves. 3 Children are a heritage...

Prayer of the Week 31 October 2021

God of love, you are so much more than anything we could ever imagine.
Abundant love flows from your very being.
We know your love is the greatest of all.
We bask now in that love, making our small offering in return.
We love you with all our heart, all our understanding, and all our strength – and always will.
Amen

Morning Prayer Friday, 29 October 2021

We begin our prayers today with a reading from St Paul’s letter to the Christians in Thessalonica. Thanksgiving and Prayer 3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. 4 Therefore, among God’s...

A reading from the Book of Ruth 16 … Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will...

Morning Prayer Wednesday, 27 October 2021

Good morning good friends, we have the gift of another day, our last Wednesday in British Summer Time. Let us spend some time of quiet and reflection together. How long will you forget me, O Lord; for ever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long shall I have anguish in my soul...
