Morning Prayer Friday, 12 June 2020
Good morning folks!
This morning prayers have been kindly put together by Martha George, and the title is:
I will gather you together!
Prayer
God the giver of life and grace, penetrate our lives and our world
so that we may learn to live in unity as you intended.
You have proven your love for us,
without your help we will drift away.
Amen
Reading
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care
Psalm 95: 1–7
Glory be to the Father and the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
it is now and shall be for ever.
Amen
Prayers
Living Stones, God has filled our hearts and lives with love and kindness.
Let us share the same with others.
Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on us.
Lord, God Almighty direct our thoughts, words and deeds.
Protect us by your power; let your light enlighten us
and watch over all we do today.
We pray for those among us who are experiencing illness in mind, body or spirit:
We beseech thee, Heavenly Father, our Divine Physician and Healer
to lay your anointing hands upon them
that they may feel the comfort that you bring to those who are afflicted.
Prayer of Thanksgiving for all who help to keep us safe:
we pray you Lord to keep safe day and night those:
In the medical profession who are devoted to caring for the sick
especially at this time of the pandemic.
For the bin men and those who clean our streets
to maintain a safe standard of hygiene required to keep us safe from contracting disease.
For the police who are exposed to harm in particular when someone dies suddenly.
For the Ministers ordained to guide us;
be with them Lord and may your unfailing help guide them
in all that they do and may we feel refreshed through the prayers of those Ministers.
For ourselves: Lord give us patience while we wait for the instructions during lockdown
to protect ourselves and the lives and health of others.
Help us not to worry too much but to allow you to work in us
and to heed the promptings of your Holy Spirit,
for without you we are nothing.
22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.’
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
Lamentations 3: 22–26
We pray for those who are prepared to take risks for the cause of justice:
Father of all, give light to the hearts and minds to all who seek justice for those who are marginalized,
give them the grace to serve with their voice; temper their anger and teach forgiveness.
We pray for the government of the world, those who serve our public needs;
those who dispense laws.
Open the eyes of all in authority so that they understand the needs of all mankind.
For family and friends, those seeking work, the homeless and the refugee,
the unloved and the lonely from the depths of our heart we cry!
Open a way, Lord, where there seems no way.
For Mark, Adrian, Robin, Ian and all who have prepared services and prayers
including all behind the scenes that we do not hear about.
We acknowledge that we are in the hands of those of great experience
and ask you Lord for a special blessing upon them .
Thank you for being our God and may we serve you as you deserve.
Amen
