Morning Prayers Wednesday, 15 April 2020
1 Peter 1: 3–4
…We thank you Lord for the beauty of this day and the springtime life bursting round us.
Help us recognise resurrection in the opening blossom and awakening insects.
May humankind learn that degradation and slaughter impact on everything.
Help us to grow into better stewards of your creation, treating it as a precious gift, full of life.
We pray for our city, so diverse, so thoughtfully constructed, so needful of our prayers.
We lift to you those who are lonely or homeless in this city where it’s easy to go about unseen and unremarked.
We pray for those who manage our civic life and make sure services continue.
We pray for the voluntary sector as they face this new day.
We pray for those who care for our health in a time of dread.
Lord, give them all courage in service and peaceful respite when work is done.
We lift to the Lord our Cornerstone people, drawn from the wide world over,
whose families are also locked away from what is usual.
Allay our fears and strengthen our hope that we will all, again, sing Alleluia as one.
Protect your CMK people from the perils of the day until we meet again to pray at dusk.
Let us conclude our prayers as Jesus taught us:
Our Father in heaven.
Hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us in the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen
Greet the day with joy!
Alleluia!
He is risen!
Alleluia!
