Welcome
Call to Worship
God calls us in this moment.
Jesus welcomes us to this moment.
The Spirit unites us in this moment.
Come and worship!
[Silence]Loving God, as we gather in this moment, we celebrate your welcome.
Speak to us; challenge us; reassure us.
Take what we offer in worship and praise that your name may be glorified now and for ever.
Amen
Hymn: Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessèd Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert and art and evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy, there is none beside thee
perfect in power, in love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
all thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessèd Trinity!

Confession
Lord God, we come to you now to say sorry
for all the times we’ve been less than truthful in our relationships, including the one with you.
As a consequence, we often miss out on your joy.
Lord:
please forgive us.
Lord God, we’re sorry for ignoring or being dismissive of others.
And of you: for not always wanting to hear or acknowledge your truth
Lord:
please forgive us.
Lord God, we’re sorry for the days we spend remembering and living in past experiences
rather than living now with you.
Help us to focus on our relationship with you now.
We need to be forward thinking but not to the point of missing out on your unfolding truth today
Lord:
please forgive us.
Assurance of Pardon
Because of our faith in Jesus Christ, who died that we may live, we stand in God’s grace.
Absolved from guilt we stand forgiven, rejoicing in the hope and glory of God.
Amen
[Silence]
Prayer of the Week
God, the Holy Trinity, we come to worship you.
We worship you as Creator; we worship you as Saviour; we worship you as Sustainer.
As we worship you today in prayer and word, and song,
help us to understand you better and to follow day by day.
God, the Holy Trinity, guide and sustain us this and every day.
Amen

Psalm 8
Read by Chibby Chima-Okoro
1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honour.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Hymn: Be still, for the presence of the Lord
Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.
Come, bow before him now, with reverence and fear.
In him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;
he burns with holy fire, with splendour he is crowned.
How awesome is the sight, our radiant King of light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place,
he comes to cleanse and heal, to minister his grace.
No work too hard for him, in faith receive from him;
be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.

John 16: 12–15
Read by Ann Wilson
12 ‘I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.’

[Silence]Prayers of Intercession
Led by Glynne Gordon-Carter
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen
The Peace
Peace to you from God, who is our Father.
Peace from Jesus Christ, who is our peace.
Peace from the Holy Spirit, who gives us life.
The peace of God be always with you,
and also with you
Let us offer one another a sign of peace

Hymn: Through all the changing scenes of life
Through all the changing scenes of life,
in trouble and in joy,
the praises of my God shall still
my heart and tongue employ.
O magnify the Lord with me,
with me exalt his name;
when in distress to him I called,
he to my rescue came.
The hosts of God encamp around
the dwellings of the just;
deliverance he affords to all
who on his succour trust.
O make but trial of his love,
experience will decide
how blest are they, and only they,
who in his truth confide!
Fear him, ye saints, and you will then
have nothing else to fear;
make you his service your delight,
your wants shall be his truth care.
To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
the God whom we adore,
be glory, as it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.
Nahum Tate (1652–1715) and Nicholas Brady (1659–1726
