Morning Prayer Thursday, 18 March2021
Good morning, Living Stones!
God is good?
All the time.…
What a joy to join you this morning for prayers as we start the day …
A moment of silence as we gather our thoughts …
Lord, speak to us in the quietness of our daily lives
and assure us of your everlasting love, even in times of troubles.
Amen
Opening Prayer
God of mercy, it is by your grace that we have seen this Thursday morning.
Accept our gratitude for giving us this opportunity to be at your service.
Here we are Lord; use us to do the work you have assigned us.
Thank you for the wonderful love you have for us.
As we step out in faith, may your presence go with us,
guiding us in paths of righteousness and may your name be glorified for ever.
Amen
Scriptural passage for reflection
…that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
Romans 1: 12
Brother Paul is talking about mutual encouragement
and the building of each other’s faith
among equal-minded followers of our Lord Jesus Christ.
From time to time, we all feel discouraged and need someone to encourage us.
No one is immune from this; not even those whom you think are paragons of faith.
All followers of Christ often make mistakes and face daily challenges.
Our hope in facing these challenges demands that we remain at the foot of the cross,
and we stand a better chance of overcoming when we come alongside fellow Christians.
Here, through encouraging each other, we can develop mutual respect
and experience growth in the face of the milliard challenges of our current living.
These words from Ephesians 4: 16 reinforce what I have just shared:
From whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
Ephesians 4: 16
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, as we pause and meditate on your promises today,
we remember that you constantly walk before us.
You walk before us watching as the good shepherd
that we do not stumble and injure ourselves.
And when we do fall, you lovingly pick us and help us on the way again.
So, this morning we bring all our anxieties fears and worries,
and lay them at the foot of the cross.
You conquered death and won freedom and the promise of eternal life for us
and so all our hopes are in you.
Amen
Blessings
May Thursday be a hope-filled day for you, that floods your fears with light.
A day that quiets all your anxious thoughts as you encounter Christ.
Pause, lift your eyes to the Lord, and find peace!
Shalom!
Good day?))
