WELCOME
Come, bring your praises and your pains.
Come, bring your joys and your sorrows.
Come, bring your thanks and your regrets.
Come, bring your hopes and your fears.
Come, bring all you are to God, and find blessing.
Silence
Lord Jesus, ‘man of sorrows’,
you know what it is to be full of sadness.
Lord Jesus, friend of sinners,
you love us in all our brokenness.
Lord Jesus, like a mother,
you care for us and soothe our pain.
As we worship you today, touch us in our need,
and help us to love and care for one another.
Amen.
We play a Hymn…
CONFESSION
Forgive us, Lord; remind us of your loving kindness.
Heavenly father, we come before you now,
so conscious of where we fail you.
Forgive us
We don’t believe that everything is in your capable hands.
Forgive us
We don’t believe you can heal.
Forgive us
We don’t accept your will for our lives.
Forgive usWe get stuck in our grief and don’t allow others in to comfort.
Forgive us
We avoid people who grieve.
Forgive us, Lord; remind us of your loving kindness.
Amen.
Silence
Lord God, we reverently bow our heads and wait on you.
We bless you for the clean slate that you always give us.
We feel your forgiveness and peace wrapping us in a warm
blanket of love and security. Thank you, Lord.
Amen.
READING
21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered round him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, ‘My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.’ 24 So Jesus went with him.
A large crowd followed and pressed round him.
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. ‘Your daughter is dead,’ they said. ‘Why bother the teacher anymore?’
36 Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, ‘Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.’ 40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha koum!’(which means ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up!’). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

Prayers
Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the world, we pray
That you, with steadfast love, would keep
Your watch around us while we sleep.
From evil dreams defend our sight,
From fears and terrors of the night;
Tread underfoot our deadly foe
That we no sinful thought may know.
O Father, that we ask be done
Through Jesus Christ, your only Son;
And Holy Spirit, by whose breath
Our souls are raised to life from death.
Silence
Visit this place, O Lord, we pray,
and drive far from it the snares of the enemy;
may your holy angels dwell with us and guard us in peace,
and may your blessing be always upon us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the
glory are yours now and forever.
Amen.
We play a Hymn…
The Conclusion
In peace we will lie down and sleep;
for you alone, Lord, make us dwell in safety.
Abide with us, Lord Jesus,
for the night is at hand and the day is now past.
As the night watch looks for the morning,
so do we look for you, O Christ.
The Lord bless us and watch over us;
the Lord make his face shine upon us and be gracious to us;
the Lord look kindly on us and give us peace.
Silence
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all evermore.
Amen.
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
