News: Ecumenical Service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 – Wednesday 22nd January
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025
“Do you believe this?” It’s a question that echoes through time, from Jesus’ conversation with Martha to our own hearts today. As we mark the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, this powerful question serves as the theme for the 2025 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, running from January 18th – 25th.
The theme draws from a deeply moving moment in Scripture – when Jesus meets Martha in her grief over Lazarus’s death. Their exchange in John 11:17-27 captures the essence of faith that has united Christians for centuries. It’s particularly fitting as we commemorate the Council of Nicaea, where the words “I believe” became the foundation of the Creed that still binds Christians worldwide.
This annual week of prayer isn’t just about tradition – it’s a living reminder of the beautiful mystery at the heart of our faith: the perfect unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s a unity we’re called to reflect in our own relationships as followers of Christ.
Join us for a special evening service celebrating this unity on Wednesday 22nd January 2025, 6pm at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone in Milton Keynes. Together, we’ll explore what it means to say “I believe” in today’s world and strengthen the bonds that connect us as one family in Christ. The service promises to be an evening of shared prayer, reflection, and fellowship – a tangible expression of the unity we seek as Christ modern disciples.
Do join us. Everyone is welcome.
