Evening Prayers Wednesday, 22 April 2020

Good Evening Living Stones.
Tonight we will take prayers from the Celtic tradition,
some from a book by David Adam, Edge of Darkness.

Join me in this song of praise from Psalm 136:

It is good to give thanks to the Lord – for his love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods – his love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords – his love endures forever;

Who alone works great marvels – his love endures forever;
Who made the heavens in wisdom – his love endures forever;
Who spread out the earth on the waters – his love endures forever.

He made the great luminaries – his love endures forever;
The sun to rule the day – his love endures forever;
The moon and the stars to rule the night – his love endures forever.

He remembered us when our fortunes were low – his love endures forever –
and rescued us from our enemies – his love endures forever.
He gives food to all humankind – his love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1–9 & 23–26

We give thanks for the end of the day and approaching sleep.
We give thanks for deeds accomplished and yet to be done.
We give thanks for the beauty of sundown.
Lord, give us peace in our bodies and rest in our souls.

We believe in God the Father Almighty,
we believe in Jesus Christ his Son
and we believe in the Holy Ghost.
We believe in life after death.
We believe in the Resurrection.

As we enter into sleep keep us, Father, keep.
As we seek a safe repose, Christ our eyelids gently close.
As we take our darkness rest, Spirit keep us with the blest.
Holy Blessed Three, keep us ever close to thee
that refreshed we may awake to work again for thy sake.

A good night filled with refreshing sleep be gifted to us all.

Amen
