Prayers for the Day, Wednesday

Good morning and welcome to our Prayers for the Day.

This is the Day that the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it. Amen

We give thanks to God for who He is.

“You are the glorious morning, You are refreshment and peace.  You are the sounds as the dawn breaks, You are the rose that smells sweet. You are the Lord, my creator, You are the wonder of life.  You are the great words of wisdom, I read them and fill up inside. You are the wonderful sunrise, You are restorer of hope.  You are the air that we breathe now, You are the warm winter coat.  You are the Lord, my creator, You are a love without end.  You are all grace and forgiveness, I stand loved and free as your friend. “

Let Us Pray:

Almighty God, we give you sincere thanks for the gift of a new day, with its opportunities to serve you. Grant that we may so pass its hours in the perfect freedom of your service. Help us to embrace anything that comes our way as an opportunity to see you at work and an opportunity to point others to you. Make us your true light bearers to shine upon others for your name to be glorified.

Loving God, we give you thanks for your amazing power and work in our lives, we thank you for your goodness and for your blessings over us.  Thank you for sacrificing your only Son Jesus Christ our Saviour who died on the Cross so that we may receive grace of freedom and life. Forgive us for when we don’t thank You enough, for who you are, for all that you do, for all that you’ve given. Help us to set our eyes and our hearts on you afresh. Renew our spirits, fill us with your peace and joy.  We give you praise and thanks, for you alone are worthy!

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Heavenly God, we pray for the life and mission of the church throughout the world. We pray especially for our Church – Christ Church the Cornerstone; all members of different groups who work tireless to meet the needs of their offices; our volunteers, our administrators, our stewards, our choir, our Sunday school, our EC members, our ministers to name a few. Give them wisdom and strength to execute their duties.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray for all who accept responsibility for leadership and decision-making in the affairs of the world and this country. May those who represent us in government be men and women of integrity, who keep their promises and lead us in the ways of justice and compassion. We pray that all those involved in talks for peace throughout the world, may promote the welfare and peace for all mankind. Help them to see that peace is the fruit of righteousness, and that righteousness is founded on faith, faith in you, the living God and your redeeming love.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Lord God, we thank you for the good things we share with our friends and families, for love and friendship, for food and shelter, for happiness and laughter. We remember and pray especially for many faced with hard decision of whether to put food on the table or pay bills. When we find it difficult to know what to do, give us courage to make the right decisions. May we be obedient to your call to preach the good news to the poor, the refugees, the exploited, the alienated, the dispossessed, and the prisoners of conscience.  We specially remember those in war torn countries and are subjected to witnessing death and agony at their door steps.  Those affected by naturally disasters – earthquake victims in Afghanistan. Father God you created every human in your own image and in You we look for hope and peace.

Make us ready to extend friendship to others, and to remember the housebound, the lonely and those who need a friends’ helping hand. Show us what we can do to help, and teach us to be good neighbours.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Loving Father, from whose mighty hands all life and healing come, we pray for all who are in pain or suffering at this time. We remember especially those facing long and incurable illnesses. In a moment of quietness we remember those known to us by their names and those unknown who are in any kind of need at this time.

God our Father, you are the source of all health and healing, all strength and peace. Teach us to know you more truly and trust you more firmly. Take from us all that hinders your healing power, all anxieties and fears, and help us in our weakness to rest in your love.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We remember in your presence those who have died in the faith of Christ. We give you thanks for the memory of their words and deeds and for all that they accomplished in their lifetime, Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope. You turn our darkness into light. In your light shall we see light.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we ask for your presence in our day in all things we will do today in our body and mind with gladness and thanksgiving.  May all we do be according to your plans and we be your true ambassadors for your name to be glorified.  In your great love, keep us near you this day.  Grant that in all our ways and doings we may remember that you see us, bless us and in your mercy we receive your Grace to know and perceive what things you would have us to do, and give us strength to the same; we give you honour and praise In Jesus’ Mighty Name.

Merciful Father
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessings. Have a Wonderful Day.
