Prayers for the Day, Wednesday

Good Morning and Welcome to our Prayers for the Day.

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Let us give thanks to God for giving us yet another day to praise Him.  Our current days are mainly filled with anxieties and uncertainties of what tomorrow brings.  Economic turbulences, natural disasters, nations under tribal conflicts and wars regardless our God is a faithfully shepherd who guards His sheep jealously; not by mighty but just God’s grace. Let us therefore give Him praise.

In Praise of God

I look to you for love and grace, Trusting belief in you I place.

Please keep us safe within your sight. I feel your presence day and night.

I try to follow golden rules. Your precious words are my jewels.

My life I live within your light. I feel your presence day and night.

The Ten Commandments are my guide, To my children I did confide.

They know your truth to my delight, I feel your presence day and night.

I’ve had my days of fears and woe. But feel protected and I know

The love you share is pure and right. I feel your presence day and night.

It’s all about the love we share. That helps us to become aware

Of needs of others and their plight. I feel your presence day and night.

I pray for peace, my worldly goal. That each and ev’ry sacred soul

Will feel the essence of your might, To feel your presence day and night.

The Word of God

Psalm 100:1-5 KJV

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

(KJV: King James Version)

Word

The most valuable thing the Psalms do for me is to express the same delight in God which David received and rejoiced. Let’s all take time today not only to read Psalm 100 but to pray Psalm 100, for this Psalm is an excellent basis for our Prayers of Adoration and Thanksgiving. It is a Psalm that recognises the importance of knowledge in our faith.  What a wonderful and marvellous thing it is to truly know that the Lord is God. To know that we belong to God and that we are held within God’s care.  It matters not what we may be going through. If we put our trust in Him; He will see us through.

Let Us Pray:

Almighty God, we ask for your presence in our day in all things we will do today in our body and mind with gladness and thanksgiving.  We ask you to help us develop a personal relationship with you.  May we see the day through in accordance with your plans and we be your true ambassadors for your name to be glorified.  In your great love, keep us near you this day.  Grant that in all our ways and doings we may remember that you see us, bless us and in your mercy we receive your Grace to know and perceive what things you would have us to do, and give us strength to do the same; we give you honour and praise through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Loving God, heaven and earth belongs to you. Give us grace to love it as you do for the good of all people and all of your creation. We pray that, in all the changes and varieties of the world; that we may not grumble in adversity nor grow proud in prosperity, but in serene faith surrender our souls to your most divine will; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Loving Father, from whose mighty hands all life and healing come, we pray for all who are in pain or suffering at this time. We remember especially those facing long and incurable illnesses. In a moment of quietness we remember those known to us by their names and those unknown who are in any kind of need at this time.

God our Father, you are the source of all health and healing, all strength and peace. Teach us to know you more truly and trust you more firmly. Take from us all that hinders your healing power, all anxieties and fears, and help us in our weakness to rest in your love.

We remember in your presence those who have died in the faith of Christ. We give you thanks for the memory of their words and deeds and for all that they accomplished in their lifetime, Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope. You turn our darkness into light. In your light shall we see light.

Heavenly God, we pray for the life and mission of the church throughout the world. We pray especially for our Church –   Church of Christ the Cornerstone; all our members, those that participate in different groups who work tireless to meet the needs of their offices; our volunteers, our administrators, our stewards, our choir, our Sunday school, our EC members, our ministers to name a few. Give them wisdom and strength to execute their duties.

We pray for all who accept responsibility for leadership and decision-making in the affairs of the world and this country. May those who represent us in government be men and women of integrity, who keep their promises and lead us in the ways of justice and compassion. We pray that all those involved in talks for peace throughout the world, may promote the welfare and peace for all mankind. Help them to see that peace is the fruit of righteousness, and that righteousness is founded on faith, faith in you, the living God and your redeeming love.

Merciful Father
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

As our Saviour taught us, so we pray;
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever.
Amen.

Have a wonderful blessed day!!
