Good morning Livingstones family.
This is Day the Lord has made, let us all be glad and rejoice in it.
In preparation of sharing my testimony at Church a couple of weeks ago; I realised I have shifted a lot in my journey of faith and this change has brought contentment into what life brings upon me. In reflection I realised sometime as Christians we need to be put into desperation for us to be able to shift our faith. It reminded me of the story of 4 lepers at the City Gate during famine in Samaria.
Scripture: 2 Kings7: 3-9
The Siege Lifted
3 Now there were four men with leprosy[a] at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, “Why stay here until we die? 4 If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.”
5 At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there, 6 for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!” 7 So they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.
8 The men who had leprosy reached the edge of the camp, entered one of the tents and ate and drank. Then they took silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them. They returned and entered another tent and took some things from it and hid them also.
9 Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.” (NIV)
The lepers were marginalised; they had no rights and no privileges and were to be worse affected by the famine. In desperation they began to question each other and realised they had to shift from the gate and try something else for possible survival. This meant moving from their comfortable zones and taking risks of faith. As Christians we become complacent in our religion beliefs for survival. Sometimes it takes some hardships in our lives realise God is our dependable Rock. The lepers made a decision to move and explore other options for their survival. In that shift they discovered not only were the Arameans tents deserted and not only did they have freedom they also discovered riches of gold, clothes and food. They proceeded into sharing their good news and it brought salvation to many. As children of God we don’t have to let what happened in our past define our present. Let’s not limit ourselves as it is never too late to start afresh. Our situations may cripple us, let’s embrace the difficulties and make a decision to change positions by knowing God will set us free and we can be able to step into the fullness of what God have for us. When we are blessed we can share our testimonies others may receive salvation through our stories.
Amen.
Prayer:
Father God we draw near to you today choosing to move away from our comfortable zones and explore your goodness. Today is a new day and we pray that may we start it powerfully knowing that you are in the midst of our lives to start a new thing in us. We ask for your strength and wisdom to know in you Christ we are more than conquerors. Through you all things are possible. We ask for your protection today and look for Holy Spirit to guide us past any hurdles and pitfalls the enemy may place in our paths. Be with us as we make decisions to shift crippling things in our lives and move to discover wealth in knowing you. When evil darkens our world, give us light. When we are in despair give us hope. When doubts assail us, give us faith that we may find serenity in Your presence and purpose in doing Your will. In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.”
Blessed Day Livingstones!!.
