Prayers for the Day, Thursday

Thank you Lord for breath, and daylight.  We are experiencing a period of anxiety and distress.  Help us to understand the power of prayer and the importance of living in unity.  God of truth we glorify You.  Let us get together to ask God’s protection for the day.

ISAIAH Chapter 11 v: 1-9

The Peaceful Kingdom

1 The Royal line of David is like a tree that has been cut down; but just as branches sprout from stump, so a new king will arise from among the David’s descendants.
2 The spirit of the Lord will give him wisdom, and the knowlegde and skill to rule His people. He will know the Lord’s will and honour Him
3 And find pleasure in obeying Him.  He will not judge by appearance or hearsay;
4 He will judge the poor fairly and defend the rights of the helpless.  At His command the people will be punished, and evil persons will die.
5 He will rule His people woth justice and integrity.
6 Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down with young goats.   Calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children will take care of them.
7 Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace.  Lions will eat straw as cattle do
8 Even a baby will not be harmed if it plays with a poisonous snake
9 On Zion, God’s sacred hill, there will be nothing harmful or evil.  The land will be as full of knowledge of the Lord, as the seas are full of water.

Let us recite Psalm 130

A Prayer for Help

From the depths of my despair I call to you, Lord.
Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help!
If you kept a record of my failings, who could escape being condemned?
But you forgive us,so that we should stand in awe of you.
I wait patiently for the Lord’s help, and in His word I trust.
I wait for the Lord more eagerly than watchman wait for the dawn.
Israel, trust in the Lord, because His love is constant, and He is always willing to save.
He will save His people Israel from all their sins.

Last week the nation cried out with one voice, at hearing the death of Queen Elizabeth, we ask Almighty God to forgive her failings, He is merciful and forgiving.

God created the world and every human being upon the earth, let us appreciate ourselves and each other.

Purify our thoughts and help us make the best of our day, may we find joy in all that we do, even when we are going through difficult times.

We ask Thee, Almighty God to guide our path all the days of our lives.

Amen
