Prayer of the Week 20 March 2015: Palm Sunday
Lord God, we commit ourselves to you.
Fill us with the confidence
and faith to obey your call
and to answer your challenges.
May our Hosannas ring true
today and always.
Amen

Lord God, we commit ourselves to you.
Fill us with the confidence
and faith to obey your call
and to answer your challenges.
May our Hosannas ring true
today and always.
Amen
Gracious God,
may the fragrance of your love fill our hearts
and inspire us to be people
who are extravagant in our giving and
generous in your serving,
to the glory of your name.
Amen
God, your heart is:
big enough to go on loving those who have hurt you;
generous enough to forgive those who turn back to you;
understanding enough to reason with those
who feel hard done by.
So we rejoice, for we are those people,
loved, forgiven and understood.
Amen
Dear God, you love every piece of your world’s jigsaw.
Help us to look through your eyes at your creation
and to love it with your heart,
that no piece of the puzzle may be missing and no part of the picture be marred.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen
God of all ages and all people,
we give thanks that we can always trust you,
rely on you, count on you,
and know that you are always on our side;
even when we are not trustworthy,
even when we are not reliable,
even when you cannot count on us.
We thank you and we praise you.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen
Thank you, loving God,
For giving us an identity that is precious and eternal.
When the world calls us fools, you call us friends.
When the world calls us poor, you call us blessed.
When the world calls us failures, you call us faithful.
When the world calls us lost, you call us home.
We thank you in Jesus’ name.
Amen
Dear God,
thank you for mountain tops and valley bottoms,
days full of sunshine and joy, and days which seem dull and drab.
Thank you for the dying days of winter,
and the promise of spring to come.
Thank you that you are present with us
always and everywhere.
Amen
Starmaker God,
Lightener of the world,
bless us
and warm us
into light and loving.
Bring us to the light of Jesus
all the length and breadth
of our nights and days.
Amen
Jesus, we are yours.
Gathered together we make up many parts,
but one complete and perfect body.
We are your hands and eyes and ears,
each part valued and indispensable.
Thank you for one another,
and for the gift that each one here brings.
Help us to rejoice in all that, together, we can be
as your body here on earth.
Amen
Loving God, in your house there is room for everyone.
Help us to strive for a world where everyone has a home that truly meets their needs.
Give us the grace to welcome strangers and refugees.
Give us the insight to see where inequality hurts.
Fill us with courage to do our part.
Save us from being overwhelmed by the scale of the housing crisis,
and show us, O Lord, where to begin.
Amen
Turn us around, God,
around into your way of thinking,
around into your way of loving.
Turn us around, God,
and confront us with Jesus,
baptise our fears with your joy.
Amen
God of grace,
through the mediation of your Son,
you call us into a new covenant.
Help us therefore to draw near with faith
and join ourselves in a perpetual covenant with you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Samuel (like Jesus) was at home in the temple,
happy with the gift of his annual new coat
made from cotton of kindness, dyed with compassion,
stitched in forgiveness and decorated in hope.
Lord of Salvation, whose power remakes us,
clothe me in righteousness, fitting for you.
Amen
We are called to the light from the hard times of darkness
to welcome a world turning upside down,
where the rich ones are humbled and the poor take their places,
where light from one candle is the new light of day.
Lord of Salvation, I believe in your promise
that one obscure birth will bring us exiles home.
Amen
The refugee road is filling up now with
outcasts and exiles, stumblers and foreigners,
trailing the Spirit who promises light.
God help us deliver the fruits of repentance:
a candle for welcome instead of disaster,
to live with enough and our spares to be shared.
Lord of Salvation who quashed my conviction
help us live like one people who are guilty no more.
Amen
