Prayer of the Week 23 April 2017
Lord Jesus, we often have questions.
We don’t always find an answer,
but we know we can trust you with the worries inside us.
Help us always to look to you when we are unsure.
In your name we ask.
Amen

Lord Jesus, we often have questions.
We don’t always find an answer,
but we know we can trust you with the worries inside us.
Help us always to look to you when we are unsure.
In your name we ask.
Amen
God of Easter and the giver of hope, we worship you.
You are indeed awesome and you shatter death.
The heavy stone was rolled away as it was no match for your strength
and so we come to you in trembling faith:
because you are God over all.
With thankful hearts full of joy we praise you for the gift of life –
even life after death promised us by his resurrection
which we celebrate this morning.
Amen
Jesus, Lord and King, we welcome you into our midst today.
You are the Alpha and the Omega, before all things and far beyond tomorrow,
the same yesterday, today and forever,
exploding all our preconceptions, our fears, our assumptions and expectations.
Enter our lives today, go before us, walk beside us;
may we always honour your name. May our voices join together to give you all our praise
for you are the king of Kings: the One who comes in the name of Lord
Amen
Loving God,
you have heard our complaints, our impatience.
Sometimes we become frightened when we move away from you.
Guide our hearts back to you.
Help us to think beyond our own wants
and to desire only to do your will.
Thank you for the many blessings in our life
and for the ways we feel your presence.
Amen
Lord, you are the restorer of our souls, our provider in times of peace and of trial. You nurture us, support and encourage us as a mother to her children. We thank you for your ever-abounding love and ask you to give us eyes of faith that we may choose your way in the face of so many choices. Help us to believe in your promises and to respond to your calling as children do to their mother in Jesus’s name.
Amen
Beloved God,
the source of all our strength;
watch over us within and without,
that in body we may be protected from all adversity,
and in mind cleansed from all destructive thoughts;
through our Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God now and for ever.
Amen
Living God, every day you call us to new lands and new experiences.
Thank you that you go before us, that you provide for us,
that your love surrounds us.
Wherever we go, you are with us;
may we honour you, with our songs, prayers, praise and worship
wherever we gather in your name.
Amen
We thank you Jesus that you are the son of God; that you did not shrink from who you were meant to be, nor take a different path as suggested by the voice of the deceptive one. Help us then, to follow you this Lenten period as our redeemer, teacher and supreme example of what it means to be truly human.
Amen
Father God, sometimes we find it hard to speak
– it is so much easier to remain silent.
Help us to speak the truth and speak out against injustice,
and to leave this place just a little kinder and fairer than we found it.
Amen
Beloved God,
in Your strong and gentle hands,
I place my life today,
choosing to depend and trust in You
to light and guide my way.
Amen
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the Son of peace to you.
Amen
Lord, we thank You for Your perfect wisdom and for Your Holy Spirit. We thank You that they work together to bring us closer to You. We ask You to bring us together this morning to learn with our minds, to experience with our hearts, and to know that we are all one in You ransomed by the precious blood of Jesus.
Amen
We believe in the sun,
though it is late in rising.
We believe in love,
though sometimes it is absent.
We believe in God,
though sometimes God is silent.
Amen
All that divides us from God died with Christ on the cross. As we are again one with him, we commit ourselves, in the power of his Spirit, to break down our divisions and become one with each other, so that Christ’s name be glorified, the kingdom come and God’s will be done.
Amen
Lord, we thank you for sending us your son. We thank you for the people who brought each one of us to you: for those who have taken time with us in so many ways, encouraged us in bad times as well as in good times. We thank you and pray for an opportunity to do the same whenever and wherever we can in Jesus’ name.
Amen
