Category: Prayer of the Week
We give you our heartfelt thanks, loving God, for:
those who have ministered to us in our time of need;
those who have visited us when we were ill;
those who have freed us from prisons of fear or lack of confidence;
those who have listened when we have needed to talk.
Bless them, encourage them in their ministries and strengthen us to follow their example of self-giving and compassion in Jesus’s name.
Amen
O God, the Holy Spirit:
come to us, and among us;
come as the wind, and cleanse us;
come as the fire, and purify us;
come as the dew, and refresh us.
O God, the Holy Spirit,
Come and be with us.
Amen
Loving God, we look for peace, but find it hard to see.
We look for hope, but find it hard to believe.
We look for love, but find the cost too great.
Help us to know that you believe that each of us is worth whatever it might take.
Amen
Lord, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those in prison.
Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist.
Support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care.
Heal those who have been wounded by the actions of others, especially the victims of crime.
Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ in his strength and in his Spirit, now and every day.
Amen
Blessed be God,
and blessed be his great name,
and blessed be all his holy angels.
May his holy name be blessed
throughout all the ages,
because he has had mercy upon us.
Amen
Living God, we thank you for all your gifts of nature and of grace,
for health and strength, for homes and family, for true friends and wise teachers,
for all the blessings of the last 25 years
and for our hope for a better life to come
surrounded and protected by your love in Jesus’s name.
Amen
Lord our God,
may your mercy be seen at work in our hearts.
Shed your light upon all people, and let your glory be known.
Keep us in your Word, which works miracles,
and help us to serve you with simplicity of heart.
Amen
Loving God, we cannot earn your love.
You lived, died and rose for us.
All that we do is as nothing in comparison.
We draw near in faith, for we long to know you.
We offer our righteousness, because we want to sincerely love you.
We enter your holiness, for we desperately want to become like Jesus Christ our saviour.
Amen
Loving God; we come into your presence with humility, seeking your mercy.
We come into your presence rejoicing, for your love for us is steadfast.
We come into your presence in confident hope,
for you will guide us in the truth by your spirit in Jesus name.
Amen
Lord we come to your house with love in our hearts, praise on our lips, intent on worship.
We come to offer our time and our thoughts to you.
We come to receive your comfort and your challenge to us. Lord, unite our prayers and our worship, that your name may be glorified in Jesus name.
Amen
We have come into your holiness because you have invited us.
We come joyfully into your presence because of the warmth of your welcome.
We come in penitence because of what we have done and said.
We come expectantly because you are the God who forgives.
We come into your holiness.
Amen
Thank you, loving God, that you are with us in community, and that, through your presence, we are strengthened by each other. Lord we are sorry that we keep your ways and your love to ourselves; that we do not challenge others when they stray from your ways; that we do not act as sentinels for your word in our community; that we fail to condemn what is wrong, and uphold what is right. Forgive us, and give us wisdom, strength and courage to be faithful guardians of your way in Jesus name
Amen
Receive us, gracious God, as we come with expectations, and with fears; with joys, and with sorrows; with faith, and with doubt. Receive us, challenge us; and grant us your peace this day as we worship and praise you together.
Amen
Creator God; we thank you for walking with us through the seasons of our lives; when it’s light and when it’s dark. By your Spirit, help us each day to lead lives that are pleasing to you and mindful of our neighbours in Jesus’ name
Amen
Heavenly Father, the source of all truth and love, keep us faithful to the teachings of Our Lord, that we may remain united in prayer and fellowship and one in joy and simplicity of heart.
Amen
