Category: Prayer of the Week
For the promise of harvest contained within a seed; we thank you.
For the oak tree within an acorn, the bread within a grain,
the apple within a pip and the mystery of nature,
gift wrapped for us to sow: we thank you.
For our families, friends and the gift of life,
Lord of the Harvest we thank you in Jesus’ name.
Amen
God our Father,
in a wonderful way you guide the work of angels and men.
May those who serve you constantly in heaven
keep our lives safe from all harm on earth.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit.
Amen
Living God, we come before your Holy presence
knowing that you will hear our prayers which come from repentant hearts.
Help us to love our neighbours more than we love ourselves,
respecting differences and embracing our commonalities.
Break our hearts for the things that break yours
and help us to echo your whispers of mercy and love.
Use our hands to extend help to those who need it
and guide our hearts to an everlasting peace in Jesus name.
Amen
Heavenly Father, in whom we live and move and have our being,
open our hearts and minds to a sense of your presence
both in our worship and in our daily lives,
that we may glorify our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Amen
Loving God, in Christ, you offer us a vision of a world transformed,
where all are valued, where your justice reigns,
where hearts are strangely warmed by your grace.
Open our hearts and minds that we may catch your vision,
and be empowered by your Holy Spirit to work with you,
that your will may be done on earth as it is in heaven
Amen
God our Father,
we thank you that we are no longer strangers to you,
but members together in the body of Christ.
Send your Holy Spirit to build up our unity,
inspire our worship, and lead us on
in the service of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen
Living and Mighty God, we praise you
that not only are you our strength,
but you enable us to be strong together.
Thank you that you don’t want us to stand alone.
Together with you, and each other, we can do great things in your service.
We can be the people you want us to be.
Bless us all as we ask in your Son’s name.
Amen
Beloved God,
bless the work we do, the words we say,
the love we share and the grace we show,
on our daily walk through this beautiful
and precious world.
Amen
As we meet in God’s house this morning,
we pause to think what our God means to us.
We stop to reflect on his generosity.
We marvel at his wonderful creation
and rejoice at the promise of eternal life
made possible by the sacrifice of his son, who is our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen
Beloved God, sometimes life gets us down and we find it hard to see things to be thankful for.
Please open our eyes to see the gifts you’ve given us in our life.
Today we are going to start by thanking you for loving us enough
to come to earth and die so we can live together for ever.
Amen
Loving God, by the power of your Holy Spirit you gave us the church and a new life in Christ Jesus through baptism.
Guide and strengthen us by the same Spirit that we who are redeemed by your Son
may serve you in love and faith and grow each day to be like him in all our actions
Amen
Loving God, we thank you that you keep turning the pages of our lives.
Every day you give us a new beginning.
Help us to ride each new wave of temptation,
and to overcome the things that can drag our lives down and bring dishonour to your sacred name.
As we look to you, we declare your promise of freedom over our lives
and consider ourselves forgiven in Jesus’ name.
Amen
Quieten our minds;
still our hearts;
for your living ways are all we seek.
Strengthen our lives;
inspire our spirits;
in your living waters flow endless grace.
Amen
Generous and loving God, draw our hearts to you
and guide our minds, filling our imaginations and controlling our wills
that we may become wholly yours and utterly dedicated unto you.
And then, use us to grow your kingdom
bringing peace, love and justice where it has been denied, in Jesus’ name.
Amen
O God you created us in love and for eternity,
and you gave your Son that we should not perish but have eternal life;
as you give us life and love, help us to give our lives and our love to you
and to those we meet on life’s journey,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
