Morning Prayers Thursday, 7 May 2020

What Is Truth? In John 18, Jesus tells Pontius Pilate, ‘The reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’ Pilate replies with a question, ‘What is truth?’ In his book entitled Saving Christianity Michael Yussef comments, Apparently, Jesus saw a...

Morning Prayer Wednesday, 6 May 2020

Good morning Cornerstone friends.
Welcome to our morning gathering together.

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens
and your faithfulness to the clouds.

Your righteousness stands like the strong mountains,
       your justice like the great deep;
you, Lord, shall save both man and beast.

How precious is your loving mercy, O God!
All mortal flesh shall take refuge
       under the shadow of your wings.

They shall be satisfied with the abundance of your house;
they shall drink from the river of your delights.

For with you is the well of life
and in your light shall we see light.

Prayer of the Week 3 May 2020

Safe in your hand, O God,
is the flock you shepherd
through Jesus your Son.
Lead us always to living waters
where you promise respite and refreshment,
that we may be counted among those
who know and follow you.
we ask this through Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit
God for ever and ever.

Amen

Honour one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer....

Praying Hands Good evening, everybody. I hope today has brought you many blessings, as well as, no doubt, some challenges. I am sure many of you know Albrecht Dürer’s ‘Praying Hands’. I have found this an inspirational picture for many years. I find the drawing itself very powerful. Some of you will also know the apocryphal...

Evening Prayers Thursday, 30 April 2020

I am the Resurrection and the Life The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a historic fact. It is the foundation of Christian expectation and hope, and this hope is found only in the risen Lord and the Easter story. There is ample evidence that Jesus is the Son of God. When Mary would have held on...

Building Faith in God How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Habakkuk 1: 2 The prophet Habakkuk was troubled by the turbulent times in which he lived. Morning Prayers Wednesday, 29 April 2020

Good morning, Living Stones. I trust that you have had a refreshing sleep, ready for this new day. It’s a bit cooler than last week, but the gardens need the rain. The thoughts I want to share with you this morning are from a short book Being Disciples by Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury. The idea...
