Morning Prayer Wednesday, 31 March 2021

Good morning, Cornerstone friends on this Wednesday of Holy Week. We have had our weeks of self-examination and preparation; we now have three solemn days ahead to remember what our Lord suffered for us; then the celebration of what he achieved in his time on Earth and through his disciples in each generation since. O God...

Prayer of the Week 28 March 2021

God who calls us on our journey, as we remember Jesus’ time in the wilderness,
help us to cast aside those things that get in the way of hearing your word.
Help us to seek you in the places of bounteous beauty and of barren bleakness.
Help us to seek you in the faces of friends and in the smiles of strangers.
Help our devotion to be made real in the actions of our lives.
When we have looked deep into our own hearts and struggled with who we are,
send angels to minister to us and draw us out from our own wilderness
to fulfil our calling to serve you.
In Christ’s name.
Amen

Evening Prayer Friday, 26 March 2021

Loving God, we approach Palm Sunday wanting to join with the crowd to praise the name of Jesus. But we acknowledge that, like them, we sometimes join in this praise unthinkingly, gaining more from the celebration of a service than we are prepared to put into it. So we ask you this evening to help us...

Anyone who walks in the day-time will not...

Music to End the Day Sunday, 21 March 2021

Warm greetings, all. I have crafted this offering of music around the key of F (major and minor), which I hope will lend unity and integrity to the sequence as a whole. We begin with one of the beautiful chorale preludes from Bach’s Orgelbüchlein, written for the Church in Weimer around 1716.  The chorale melody, gently elaborated,...
