Daily Prayers Thursday, 15 December 2022
Good morning friends of Cornerstone, and those joining us for daily prayers.
We begin our day with thanksgiving for the gift of today, the Lord has a plan for us and we must not be discouraged. We are challenged but not beyond our capabilities. May we experience that sense of peace, and keep believing in God’s love for He has a plan for each one.
Today’s reading is taken from the Good News Bible.
Philippians Chapter 2, verses 12: 18
Shining as Lights in the World
12So then, dear friends, as you always obeyed me when I was with you, it is even more important that you obey me now while I am away from you. Keep on working with fear and trembling to complete your salvation, 13because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose.
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may be innocent and pure as God’s perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky, 16as you offer them the message of life. If you do so, I shall have reason to be proud of you on the Day of Christ, because it will show that all my effort and work have not been wasted.
17Perhaps my life’s blood is to be poured out like an offering on the sacrifice that your faith offers to God. If that is so, I am glad and share my joy with you all. 18In the same way, you too must be glad and share your joy with me.
For all who enjoy good health we pray with you in thanking the Lord for good health and strength
For who are unwell or incapacitated in any way, may God breathe on us a healing breath that we will not be distressed even when we fee battered and broken.
For all those who prayed with us throughout the week we say thank you to you O Lord, for your inspiration.
We rejoice as we go through a time of preparation, help us by your grace to remain steadfast in our love to you and our fellow humankind
We are coming to end of 2022, though a difficult year, you have made it possible for us to be protected by your love, may your Holy spirit fill us with light, that the darkness will not overcome us.
Let us recite with deep devotion Psalm 121, as we pray for God’s protection
The LORD our Protector
1I look to the mountains;
where will my help come from?
2My help will come from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
3He will not let you fall;
your protector is always awake.
4The protector of Israel
never dozes or sleeps.
5The LORD will guard you;
he is by your side to protect you.
6The sun will not hurt you during the day,
nor the moon during the night.
7The LORD will protect you from all danger;
he will keep you safe.
8He will protect you as you come and go
now and for ever.
Lord grant us a world of peace, love and forgiveness
Bless the life of all who work at the Cornerstone, not only at Christmas but for years to come.
