Daily Prayers Friday, 21 October 2022
When the question is ‘Why?’
be the voice that I hear
When the question is ‘Where?’’
be the guidance I need
When the question is ‘When?
Be the wisdom I seek
When the question is ‘How?’
be the strength I require
When my answer is ‘Yes!’
be the peace that I feel.
We pray for those for who it has been a particularly difficult week.
We thank you for the occasional days of autumnal sunshine and the changing colours of the season. Yet we are reminded that the nights are drawing in and winter is around the corner. This winter is going to be difficult for many due to hunger, cold and loneness. Many people don’t know who to turn to for help. We pray that any available support will reach those most in need, particularly those who for whatever reason are outside the support offered by the state. May we as a Church be willing to support those who turn to us for in their time of need.
Speak Lord, into the heart
of government, and those
whose decisions today will
affect the lives of millions.
May their incentive be
not pleasing the powerful,
the political influencers,
loudest voices and donors,
but rather to do your will;
seek justice, help the poor,
work for the common good
of all people, not just a few.
It’s a difficult ask, we know,
but in you, Lord, is our hope.
Amen
