Christ is alive!

This will always be the latest news.  It was news on that first Easter Sunday, when no-one could quite believe it. Jesus’ followers and those who wished him gone were all quite sure that he was dead.  You don’t hang on a cross in that way and survive it. But the truth that began to dawn on them all was that God had done what was promised and had broken through death and Christ is alive.

The question for them then and for us now is, ‘What next?’ Jesus met with his followers in the weeks following his death and resurrection, but then told them to wait and then they would begin to know what the next steps had to be.

When we find ourselves in that same place, with the song of resurrection ringing in our ears, but a world of struggle, suffering and injustice all around us, we find ourselves asking ‘What next?’ Sometimes we too need to wait for the next steps to be clear, but when that glimmer of light begins to break through the mist, will be ready to follow?
