Prayers for People Hurting and Distressed God of the heights and the depths, we bring to you those driven into the desert, those suffering with difficult decisions. May they choose life. God of the light and darkness, we bring to you those lost in the mist of drugs and drink, those dazzled by the use of...
Good morning, good Cornerstone friends, on this May morning, which is struggling to stay like spring. The readings this morning are similar to those of last Sunday. I don’t want to repeat what we had then nor contradict the wisdom we received from George. I hope this does the trick. How lovely is your dwelling place,...
By Revd George Mwaura Psalm 22: 25–31 and John 15: 1–8 Tangled up in the vines… This passage from John’s gospel is one that has created great comfort for many people, and at the same time, profound pain and suffering for others. So, let us begin by putting some context to it and, as we do so,...

I imagine that any of you who have visited Iona will recognise the picture above. It is many years since we went there, but the atmosphere of the island made a real impression on me. I think of it still each time we have a prayer from the Iona community or use hymns written by John...
Morning Prayer in the Celtic Tradition Good morning on this last day of April – a very changeable month of cold and drought and finally refreshing rain. Today we pray in the Celtic tradition drawing on prayers from David Adam. This new day you give me from your great eternity. This new day now enfold me...
A reading from Psalm 22 25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfil my vows. 26 The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him – may your hearts live for ever! 27 All the ends of the earth will...
You Are Important to God You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. Psalm 139: 3-4 LSAB Sometimes we don’t let people get to know us completely because we are afraid they will discover something about...
Good morning, Cornerstone friends. We have three more Sundays ahead of us using Zoom only and then it’s Pentecost, when we have the choice of both Zoom and attending church in person. God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us. That your way may be known upon earth, your...

Safe in the knowledge that we are loved, we come to the Good Shepherd, seeking succour for our souls.
Let not the wolves of this day snatch our thoughts and scatter them for our minds belong to Jesus and our hearts are open to him.
Amen
Good evening everyone. Welcome to Friday evening’s prayers. It’s over a year now since I’ve been writing prayers for this forum and I’ve really appreciated the discipline of giving some serious thought each week as to what I would like to share with you. I know that not all members of our Cornerstone community are able...
